What is FUT Hair Transplantation?
FUT, or Follicular Unit Transplantation, is a traditional surgical hair transplant technique. It involves removing a strip of scalp from the donor area (usually the back of the head) and then dissecting it into individual hair follicles that are then implanted into the recipient area.
The FUT Principle
- Strip harvesting: A strip of scalp is removed from the donor area, leaving a linear scar.
- Follicle dissection: The strip is then dissected into individual hair follicles (follicular units) under a microscope.
- Recipient site incision: Tiny incisions are created in the recipient area using a precise instrument.
- Graft implantation: The hair follicles are then implanted one by one into the incisions.
The point of using is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate which looks reasonable. The generated is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.
Advantages of FUT
- Proven technique: FUT is a well-established and widely practiced hair transplant technique.
- Can treat large areas: FUT allows for a large number of grafts to be harvested in a single procedure, making it ideal for large areas of baldness.
- Generally lower cost: FUT is generally less expensive than newer FUE techniques.
Before FUT Hair Transplant
- Research and Consultation: Research FUT hair transplantation and schedule a consultation with a specialist to discuss your goals and candidacy.
- Medical Evaluation: Undergo a medical evaluation to assess your overall health and suitability for the procedure.
- Quit Smoking and Alcohol: Quit smoking and limit alcohol intake to improve healing and reduce risks.
- Medication Adjustment: Adjust medications as per surgeon’s instructions to minimize bleeding risks.
- Hair Maintenance: Avoid cutting hair too short or chemical treatments close to the surgery date.
- Prepare for Recovery: Arrange transportation for the surgery day and plan for post-op rest.
- Follow Preoperative Instructions: Adhere to pre-op instructions provided by your surgeon.
- Emotional Preparation: Educate yourself about the procedure and manage expectations.
- Financial Planning: Make necessary financial arrangements for the procedure and associated costs.
Preparation for FUT hair transplantation
- Alcohol, tobacco and blood thinners are not used before the FUE hair transplantation.
- It is important to sleep well and rest the day before the hair transplant operation.
- A large breakfast is not recommended in the morning of the FUE hair transplantationsurgery.
- In order not to damage the hair follicles when wearing and undressing after surgery, you should choose clothes with buttons.
In summary, the FUT technique is an effective option for hair transplantation, but it has some drawbacks such as the linear scar. If you are looking for a technique that leaves no visible scars, FUE may be a better option.
